The upper mouse button bar can be displayed/not displayed by left clicking the title bar

The lower mouse button bar and function key assignments can be displayed/not displayed by left clicking the total bar

Please note:Key descriptions may vary on different computers DELETE may read DEL and INSERT may read INS etc.

The five operators are + - * / %

If no operator is entered + is assumed

For percentage calculations postfix with %

Alternative operator keys (when in KEYSCMND mode) to - * / and % are S M D P respectively

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

To make an entry type the entry into the input bar and right click anywhere in the main screen area or left click ENTER (ENTER)

To home the input bar left click anywhere in the main screen outside of the calculation or left click HOME (HOME)

The calculator is dual mode Random and Sequential (static) ,in Random mode entries can be typed in sequentially and inserted at random anywhere in a file .In Sequential mode entries can only be entered sequentially, any number of figures or lines of text can be deleted and then restored (providing no other figures or text have been input meanwhile) . In sequential mode the input bar is static (fixed) (above the total box) and cannot be moved. In random mode the input bar can be either static or conjoined to the highlight box and movable. There is a mouse button BAR ($) and a configure calculator menu option to select a static or movable input bar in random mode.

The calculator opens in Random mode ,access Sequential mode by clicking MODE (SPACE-BAR), exit back to Random mode by clicking MODE again or EXIT (ESC) EXIT (ESC) will exit any screen or mode. Sequential mode is sometimes useful the calculator would normally be used in Random mode.

In Random mode the entry cursor is green and in Sequential mode blue.

Random mode is the normal use mode

Input figures are typed into the yellow input bar ,the running total is displayed in the blue total box ,a figure can be input by left clicking ENTER (ENTER) or by entering a second operator + - * / or = or right clicking in clear screen this figure is then transferred to the calculation and the running total is changed accordingly

The operator of the figure in the input bar, or if the input bar is empty the highlit figure, can be changed by left clicking OP (") this toggles through + - * / , and can be useful when cutting or copying generated totals for use elsewhere in a file

The Random mode highlight box/cursor can be moved to anywhere within the calculation by left clicking at the desired point in the calculation or using the < /\ \/ >mouse buttons (CURSOR KEYS),in Random mode the input bar can be movable or static you can select which using BAR ($) and is located above the highlight box if movable. To enter a new figure anywhere within the calculation move the highlight box/cursor/input bar to the desired position type in the new figure and click ENTER (ENTER) or an operator or right click in clear screen. To delete a figure ,highlight the figure leaving the input bar empty then click DLT (DLT) If the input bar is at the end of the calculation and no figure is highlighted DLT (DELETE) will delete the last input. If there is a figure in the input bar DLT (DLT) will delete this first.

The main keyboard keys have dual use they can be set by the KEYS (?) button at the bottom of the screen to either TEXT or COMMAND (CMND) when set to TEXT the calculator will detect text entry and command entry is by mouse button only, if set to CMND the keys are set to enter commands, to enter text in this mode left click the TEXT (INSERT) mouse button, the text mode can be changed without affecting the calculation ,to enter the text and exit text entry press ENTER or right click anywhere on screen .To exit text entry without entering the typed text left click anywhere on screen or press ESC. All characters can be entered including numbers, any numbers entered will be treated as text and will not be included in calculation, multiple lines of text can be entered, BACKSPACE will delete characters use the cursor keys or left click to re-position the cursor.Text can be edited by highlighting a line of text and then left or rigjt clicking it or left clicking the input bar or clicking EDIT (i) the line or lines of text will highlight and are now available for editing, exiting text edit is the same as before by left clicking on screen or left click EXIT (ESC) or TEXT or ENTER (ENTER). All text entries of one or more lines are operated on commonly as paragraphs the first line of a paragraph is preceded with a full stop . , if a line of text is highlighted, and for instance COPY (G ) is used the complete paragraph of text is copied and the same applies to editing and cutting test and to deleting text if a line of text is highlit ,if the text is not highlit and the cursor is homed ,delete will delete the last line of text only.To start a new paragraph while entering or editing text press TAB. With justify text selected in the configure calculator menu the text will justify when completed and entered. You cannot insert an entry between lines of text that form a paragraph other than further text via edit.

In practice provided you get into the habit of not using any of the four operators + - * / in lines of text and KEYSTEXT is selected, the calculator will automatically differentiate between text and figure entry.

To finish a calculation and cause a complete break in the file click T/L (T) the current calculation is terminated , the running total is transferred to the main screen ,the grand total is displayed in the grand total bar and the calculator is ready for a new calculation: (displaying the grand total is optional) .Any alteration to this calculation will have no effect on subsequent calculations.

A variation on the T/L (T) total command are the add and exclude percentage commands they also finish a calculation and cause a complete break in the file , and they add or exclude a preset percentage click V (V) to add the preset percentage click -V (-V) to exclude the preset percentage, the wording displayed for this utility can be changed in the configure calculator menu to show "vat" or "tax" or just the percent figure can be displayed , this only affects the display and doesn't affect computation at all. The percent rate is changeable from the configure calculator menu. The exclude percentage calculation behaves differently from a subtract percentage calculation, for instance, starting with a figure of 100 , if you add a percentage at 17.5% you will get 117.50 ,which is exactly the same as adding 17.5% but if you then exclude a percentage from 117.50 you will get back to your original figure of 100 ,the original figure ,but if you subtract 17.5% from 117.50 you will get 96.94 which is 117.50 minus 17.5% . The exclude percentage operation is an exclude "vat" operation, the add percentage operation is an add "vat" operation

Another variation of the T/L (T ) total command is T/Lc (Y) this finishes the calculation causes a break in the file, totals the calculation and transfers the total to the main screen but also carries the total into the next calculation, any change in the first calculation will now affect subsequent calculations

VARIABLES AND CONSTANTS

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another way of passing results through a calculation or file is by the use of variables, variables hold values that can vary

There are 26 variables available a to z

The Full screen calculator shorthand for a variable or a constant is the @ symbol, this is always followed by a letter ie: @a , the shorthand for load is the letter l

To assign variables type l followed by the symbol @ followed by the variable letter ie: l@c , the variable will then be assigned the current generated total at the point where it is inserted, variables are dynamic and will change if entries affecting the generated total change.

To assign a constant (give it a value), type l followed by the symbol @ and then a letter from a to z followed by the value which can be positive or negative ie: to assign the value 10 to variable c type l@c10 or to assign -10 type l@c-10 , the value of constants remains static and will not change

The KEYS (?) button must be set to CMND when entering variables

When a variable is assigned the value does not affect the calculation ,the assignment is enclosed in brackets { } to indicate this

To insert the value of a variable or constant into a calculation type one of the four operators + - * / (if no operator is typed + will be assumed) followed by the symbol @ and then the letter ie: +@a will input the value held by the variable or constant a into the calculation , you can also add the percentage operator at the end to for percentage operations ie: -@a%

Variables and constants should be loaded before they can be inserted and can be re-assigned if required.

To check the values and status of variables in a file left click the @ (\) ,button

-------------------------------------------------------

The grand total (when multiple calculations have been generated) can be displayed / not displayed by left clicking SGT (:)

.

Clicking ENTER (ENTER) or right clicking in the main screen area with the input bar empty adds an empty line

= (=) behaves the same as ENTER but will not add empty lines

Decimal places can be restricted to 2 or not restricted by left clicking RDP (~) ,only restricts results (generated totals) not input figures

In Random mode to view the page prior to the active page click VPP (,<) next action will return to the active page

To change page click << (PAGE UP) or >> ( PAGE DOWN)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SINGLE LINE CALCULATIONS

-------------------------------------------------

Sometimes it is useful to execute a side sum while performing a calculation this can be done with a single line calculation using the < operator

The result is added to the current total

Type < followed by the calculation ie:<2+5+3 , this will add 10 to the current total

The < operator can be preceded by any of the four operators + - * or /, + will be assumed if no operator is used

Variables and constants can also be used ie: -<4*@a will subtract the result of 4*the value held in @a from the current total

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

MANIPULATING FIGURES

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Highlit entries can be manipulated with the COPY (G): and CUT (J): commands, all input figures ,totals and text can be passed to the PASTE> ( ( ) button and the button is then displayed , the paste button will remain displayed (the paste data can be passed across files) until the <CLEAR ( >) button is clicked

Highlit figures can be incremented and decremented by clicking the relevant mouse button +10 (O) increment by 10 -10 (P) decrement by 10 +1( [) increment by 1 -1( ]) decrement by 1 +0.10 (L) increment by 0.1 -.10 ( ;) decrement by 0.1 +0.01 ( ' ) increment by 0.01 -0.01 (#) decrement by 0.01 will operate on all figures including those containing %.

Highlit figures can also be incremented and decremented using the click adjust option, by pointing the mouse pointer at a highlit figure and left clicking to increment by the click adjust value or right clicking to decrement by the click adjust value. The click adjust value can be any value and can be set at the configure calculator/set click adjust figure available from the menu or the SCA ( _ ) mouse button ,it can also be set to the mouse button settings by right clicking a button to display the message and then pressing a key.(will always be set to the positive figure). The current click adjust value is displayed on the right of the calculator screen and is also displayed by right clicking any increment or decrement mouse button.

Highlit figures can be replaced by typing the new figure into the input bar and clicking RPLC (R) ,any figure entry can be replaced by another figure, replace does not operate on text or totals only on figures.

Highlit figures or text can be edited by left clicking the input bar or left clicking EDIT (I) ,left click ENTER (ENTER) or right click when editing is complete or to cancel left click anywhere or EDIT (I) or EXIT (ESC)

To prevent a figure being manipulated by the replace ,increment and decrement commands prefix the figure with an & ie: &10 enters +10 as normal but if an attempt is made to manipulate the figure the calculator will sound an error.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The number of entries in the current calculation is displayed top right under the title bar (only active entries are counted that effect current total, not text or empty spaces etc.).You can left click ENT (E) at any point in the calculation to show the number of entries up to that point.(the figure is not included in the calculation), can be used before a total in multiple calculations to show the number of entries in a calculation that is not current.

Left clicking /ENT (/E) divides by the number of entries, and can be used to get the average of a list of figures .

All text insertions (see below) can be inserted or deleted in the same manner as figures.

To quickly bring the input bar back to the end of the calculation left click HOME (HOME) ,left clicking past the end of the calculation or in the bottom three lines of the screen also homes the input bar.

Left clicking MENU ( F) displays the main menu:CLR (Z) clears the current calculation:QUIT (Q) quits the calculator

STXT (X) displays the calculation as a single scrollable, editable, searchable and printable file in Notepad (altering the file in Notepad will have no affect on the calculation),the generated Notepad file must be closed to re-activate the calculator ,the latest instance of this operation can be found as a standard text file at c:\wfscalc\text.txt

IMPORTANT: In some older versions of Windows Notepad may close as soon as it has opened and return control to the calculator, however the file located at c:\wfscalc\text.txt will still contain the data.

AT (ALT+0) this button is displayed when the calculation contains text and the column width has changed, to give you the option of re-aligning all text in the calculation to the new column width: To re-align a single paragraph of text without affecting other paragraphs of text bring it in and out of edit

UNDO (U) undo will operate after delete, clear ,replace and increment or decrement

LGND (K) show the key use legend See: www.winningform.com/fsckeyuse.htm or c:\wfscalc\keyuse.rtf for a full key and mouse use legend

DLT (DELETE) behaves differently by key press and click, it repeats by key press but not by click

Left click M (A) to record the current total in the blue current total box and display (above the total bar), will have no effect on the calculation, but the displayed figure can be left clicked to enter (directly) into the calculation CM (B) clears the remembered total, the remembered total can be passed across files, if displayed when a new file is opened will remain displayed.

The figures in the total boxes can be input by left clicking them, the alternative key presses are (ALT+2) to input the figure in the current total box (blue box) and (ALT+3) for the figure in the grand total box (purple box).

If the calculator is cleared or a new file opened whilst the current file is unsaved the calculator will always record a safety copy of the file in the unsaved data directory , the latest 42 occurrances of unsaved files are recorded. To open a file after inadvertently quitting or clearing, click MENU (F) to display the menu ,then select unsaved data a list of files will be displayed with the most recent at the top ,left click on a file to open it or select the file using the cursor buttons or keys and click ENTER (ENTER) to open

The calculator records a safety copy of the current file, in case of power or system failure or other illegal closure, on re-running the calculator after failure the last file will be automatically opened. To protect against hard disc failure we recommend using the back-up all files or back-up files menu option at the end of each day or session.

If the calculator is closed using the Windows close command X and not by QUIT (Q),on re-running the calculator the last file will be automatically opened.( If Windows displays a message stating it cannot close the program without losing data, ignore this message and click END NOW )

The blue bar at the top of the calculator may sometimes need to be left clicked to re-activate the calculator after minimizing. The bar shows light blue when inactive and a darker blue when active. The calculator may need to be re-activated, after returning to it from other activities, to do this left click somewhere in the screen

If the column width is changed after entering text ,the text can be adjusted to fit the new column width by bringing it in and out of edit.

The text colour can be changed by left clicking TXTC (') there are 32 colour settings numbering 0-31, comprising eight colours ,numbers 1-8 are normal ,9-15 bright and 16-31 highlit. The current text colour number is displayed in the title bar

The text and title colours are linked , the text colour is displayed in the file menu's making it possible to colour code saved files

The columns per page can be changed by left clicking CLMNS (TAB). The current number of columns/digits per column are displayed in the title bar

The screen background colour will toggle between black and white by left clicking SCRN (!)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THE MAIN MENU

----------------------------

There are twelve file utilities available from the main menu. each option has it's own help screen

Some menu options also have a corresponding button and key press, if so this is shown at the end of the explanation

MAIN DIRECTORY OPERATIONS

-----------------------------------

open file main directory: open a file from the current main directory

save file main directory: re-save and update a previously saved file using the same title: SV ( { )

save as file main directory :to save a previously unsaved file, unlike Windows "saving as" a file by using it's current title or selecting an existing title (rather than typing in a new title) will make another copy of the file, without overwriting the first, subsequent copy titles are prefixed with a copy number ie: (02), up to 99 copies can be made of each file

save protected file main directory: to protect a file from being altered, use to save files that are going to be used repetitively, or to protect a file from being altered.Protected files can be reloaded and altered as required but the SAVE command will not operate on them ,only SAVE AS thereby preserving the original file.Unlike Windows if a file is SAVEd AS by selecting or typing an identical existing file name the file will be saved with the same name and prefixed with a copy number, leaving the original file intact.Protected files cannot be unprotected but can be deleted. In the file menu's protected files are displayed prefixed by a P.

delete files main directory : deleted files are transferred to the Deleted files directory (equivalent to the Windows recycle bin).

deleted files file main directory: with option to restore file(s) to it's main directory or permanently delete files. The calculator has powerful block file manipulation features, care should be taken when permanently deleting files.

change/create main directory:change the main directory to open and save files to. If the directory does not exist the calculator will prompt to create the directory, a clickable list contains the most recently used directories. A directory that already exists cannot be a main directory. A main directory cannot be directly onto a drive a directory path name must be used. Each main directory has it's own "deleted files" sub directory.

Unlike back-up directories main directories must be created from within the full screen calculator, a directory that already exists cannot be turned into a main directory,a main directory cannot be directly on a drive ie: a: cannot be used as a main directory, but a:fsc for instance can be used.

Files in main directories can be listed by file age or alphabetically, the default is by file age , when a new main directory is first created files are listed by age, you can then select to list files alphabetically or by age by left clicking the relevant mouse button in the OPEN FILE or SAVE AS FILE main directory file displays, to set the file listing preference for the current main directory, each main directory can have a different listing preference.

Files that are listed by age are listed to the original date and time when they are first saved and not by there last modification time.

IMPORTANT: If files are copied to a main directory from a back-up directory using the copy backed-up files to main directory main menu option while the listing preference is set to file age ,the newly copied files will be displayed at the top of the file listing and not integrated with the rest of the files by there original save date and time, to integrate the newly copied files click the LIST BY AGE button ,(clicking LIST ALPHABETICALLY and then LIST BY AGE will have the same affect)

BACK-UP DIRECTORY OPERATIONS

------------------------------------------

back-up file(s): option to back one or more files from the main file directory to to another drive ,directory or removable disc.

back-up all files: option to back-up all files from the main file directory to to another drive ,directory or removable disc.

open backed up/transferred file or template: Open a file that has been backed-up or transferred from another computer. Also open a template that has been download from the internet. For transferred files type in the drive letter followed by the directory path where the file(s) is located and the calculator will import and display the file(s), ready for opening.

copy backed-up files to main directory: option to copy one or more backed-up files to the current main directory

delete back-up files: delete back-up files

Unlike main directories any directory can be back-up directory, but care must taken to ensure that a directory that is used by another application or Windows is not used as a back-up directory ,back-up directories can be created from within the calculator or in Windows (in Windows directories are called Folders),if a directory name is typed in that does not exist the calculator will prompt to create the directory. Back-up directory names can be maximum of 8 characters long. A back-up directory can be directly on a drive. ie: stipulating a: will use the floppy disc drive as a back-up directory saving the files directly onto a floppy disc without a directory path. You should not use c:\. A left clickable list contains the most recently used back-up directories.A back-up directory can contain up to 65535 files, but the calculator can only access 1-1000, any file over 1000 should therefore be renamed to below 1001 to enable the calculator to access it.

Files in back-up directories can be re-sorted to be listed alphabetically or by age by left clicking the relevant mouse button

IMPORTANT: If the file listing preference is set to list by age when files are copied to back-up directories the files are not integrated by age but are instead will be shown at the top of the file listings , to integrate the files by age left click LIST BY AGE (clicking LIST ALPHABETICALLY and then LIST BY AGE will have the same affect)

IMPORTANT: The primary purpose of back-up is to protect against main hard disk failure, the main hard disk is drive c: therefore c: would not normally be used for back-up purposes, however we do recommend that when transferring files from one computer to another a back-up directory(folder) is created on c: (ie:c:\fsctemp) as a safe medium for the transfer of the files: see below: Files transfers

To keep sets of files in separate directories it is best to use separate main directories on c: main hard drive: see above: main directory operations

Please note: Directory names can currently be only 8 characters long and file titles are not displayed in Windows only the file number, we hope to make longer directory names and file title display in Windows available.

OTHER OPERATIONS

-----------------------

unsaved data: Option to open a file that was automatically saved by the software ,when not saved by the user. The last 42 occurrances of of data not saved by the user are saved in the unsaved data directory

CONFIGURE CALCULATOR: display the configure calculator menu

reinstate last file:re-instate the last file, can be used when first running the calculator to re-open the last active file

--------------------------------------------------------

The calculator is designed for multi main directory use by topic

Files can be copied or deleted as single files or in blocks, for information on the facilities available in file operations please click HELP on the relevant page.

File titles may be up to 48 characters long and all characters can be used.

File protection facilities are extensive making paperless use viable.

THE CONFIGURE CALCULATOR MENU

-----------------------------------------------------------

There are nine options available from the configure calculator menu. Most have corresponding mouse buttons and key presses in the main calculator screen

assign function keys: There are 10 assignable function keys F1 to F10 ,they can be assigned with anything that can be included in a file ,figures, commands or text, there are two ways of assigning function keys to act directly or indirectly ,if a key is assigned indirectly the output will appear in the input box ready for input to the calculation ,if a key is assigned directly it's output will go directly to the file bypassing the input box, to assign a key directly type the value and then click INSERT (INSERT) to assign indirectly type the value and click ENTER (ENTER). As with other menu options a help screen is available on the relevant page. Function key values can be displayed at the bottom of the calculator by left clicking the total bar, the displayed values are left clickable to activate or by pressing the relevant function key at the top of the keyboard. Some keyboards may have already assigned the function keys to other values ,if so the calculator will not override these values and therefore key press use will not be available only left click use will be available: FK ( ALT+1)

show help messages: show active familiarization messages at the bottom of the calculator screen whilst the calculator is in use: SH ( } )

don't show help messages:SH ( } )

justify text

don't justify text

screen black: changes the background screen colour to black with white figures:SCRN (!)

screen white: changes the background screen colour to white with black figures:SCRN (!)

change vat/tax/% rate: change the vat (or tax or %) rate:always performs exactly the same function of adding or excluding a percentage but can be configured to read vat ,tax or %

show tax: changes the wording only to "tax" instead of "vat" when executing the V or -V tax calculations, has no effect on calculation

show vat: as above but shows "vat"

show % only: as above but shows only the percentage figure being used and no wording

columns per page: select the number of columns per page , the number of digits per column is set automatically depending on the number of columns: CLMNS (TAB)

text colour: change the text colour, does not affect colour of input figures, also automatically changes the title colour and the file colour displayed in the file menu's: TXTC (')

show grand total: select to show the grand total with multiple calculations: SGT (:)

don't show grand total:SGT (:)

restrict results to 2 decimal places: only operates on results not input figures, if the third decimal place is 5 or greater will round up:RDP (~)

don't restrict results to 2 decimal places:RDP (~)

set click adjust value: set the value to increment or decrement by when left clicking or right clicking a highlit figure, can also be set by right clicking an increment or decrement mouse button and pressing a key to set to the value displayed, will always set to a positive value if this method is used. If a highlit figure is left clicked it will be incremented by the click adjust value and if right clicked decremented by the value: SCA ( _ )

IMPORTANT:After downloading the click adjust value may need to be initially set before click adjust will operate, to do this quickly right click an increment or decrement button to display its message and then press any key, (the click adjust value will then be set to this amount). If you wish you can now reset the value at the configure calculator/set click adjust figure menu option.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The software will automatically generate a new column or page as data is entered.

left clicking +CL ( C ) adds spaces to bring the input bar or cursor to the top of the next column ,left clicking +PG (N) adds spaces to bring the column to the start of the next page, +PG (N) cannot be inserted.

In Random mode the page prior to the active page can be viewed by clicking VPP (,<) the next action (any click or key press) will return to the active page.

The GTP (ALT+7) mouse button will display a go to selection menu of all pages (and the first entry on each page, ignoring empty spaces), which will take you to the selected page, only available in Random mode

Markers can be entered in a file to enter a marker left click MRKR (^) ,markers are automatically numbered sequentially if a marker is inserted between markers or before another marker the proceeding marker(s) will be incremented by one.The GTM (ALT+8) mouse button will display a go to selection menu of all markers (and the entry immediatly following it, ignoring empty spaces), which will take you to the page containing the selected marker and highlight the marker, Go to marker is only available in Random mode

TRANSFERRING FILES BETWEEN COMPUTERS

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

There are two ways to transfer files from one computer to another, by simple file transfer using intermediary back-up directories or by creating templates, using templates makes it easy for the recipient of the file(s) to import the file(s)

Templates

Templates are available for download at www.winningform.com/fsctemplate.htm and once downloaded can be accessed from the main menu: open backed-up file or template option.
You can also configure your own templates for distribution if required by, firstly make the file in the normal way and save (
save as) to the default main directory c:\wfscalc , then double click TEMPLATES.EXE in c:\wfscalc, this transfers the latest saved file in the default main directory c:\wfscalc to the templates folder (c:\wfscalc\tlates) the file created will begin with T followed by a number.:A help screen is available for this operation. The T prefixed file produced can be passed directly to the the recipient to be placed in there c:\wfscalc\tlates directory or zipped to download into there c:\wfscalc\tlates directory. As with back-up directories file numbers in the c:\wfscalc\tlates templates directory are not pre-indexed and can be renamed as required to different numbers. A graphical explanation on transferring templates can be found at www.winningform.com/tempex.htm  To Make repetitive use files for your own use it is better to use the save protected option see:Main menu options.

File transfers

Files can be easily transferred from one computer to another via the Windows directory system ,in Windows directories are called Folders, each Full screen calculator file has a file number that begins with S ie: S 22 .To get the number of a file ,display the relevant files in an open file menu option , select the file using the cursor keys or buttons, the files file number will be displayed bottom left.Files in main directories can only be copied ,do not delete or overwrite (paste over) files in main directories ,files in main directories are pre-indexed, deleting or overwriting files in main directories may cause the files to be permanently lost.Files in back-up directories are not pre-indexed ,instead they are re-sorted by the calculator each time they are accessed for display in the file menu and renumbered if necessary in chronological order ,therefore files in back-up directories can be copied cut or pasted at random ,taking care of course not to overwrite (paste over) any files you wish to keep. We recommend that any files you wish to transfer should firstly be copied to a back-up directory from the main directory. If you need to paste a file into a back-up directory and another file exists with the same number ,simply rename one of the files to another number that does not exist, you can use any number between 1 and 1000. A graphical explanation of the file transfer process can be found at www.winningform.com/fscfex.htm

IMPORTANT: File numbers in main and back-up directories are changed by file operations, you should always check the file number relative to the file name just prior to transferring a file.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Full screen calculator files are binary files not ascii and if transferred over the internet using FTP should be transferred in binary mode.

Any data that the calculator has not included in the calculation is enclosed in brackets []

If any entries are longer than the allotted space (for the current columns*digits setting) the entries will be accepted and a message ENTRIES OVERLAP is displayed. Decreasing the number of columns per page is then advisable.

The calculator can generate a maximum of 50 pages

Uses exponential form E.

If the calculator produces exponential result(s) it may be possible to convert to stand decimal format via the E (ALT+6) button, this will work with low numbers, left click the button to display red and the calculator will attempt to convert the exponential results to the nearest standard decimal format equvilent ,this result may be up to 0.009 innacurate, for everday calculations (non scientific) it is best to leave the button set red.

Each file uses approximately 65k of disc space. Can be used in conjunction with Windows "On screen keyboard" (at START/PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/ACCESSIBILITY) or type osk.exe in a "command prompt" and press ENTER to activate (osk.exe may not be available in all versions of windows).
